                                      John Hays

John Hays was elected as the new Council President’s Annual Meeting on July 12, 2006. John has been the Santa Cruz delegate to the Coronado RC&D Council for the past five years, serving as Vice-President of the organization since March of 2005. He is currently the Floodplain Coordinator for Santa Cruz County. Raised in Texas and Arizona, John holds degrees in geology and planetary geology from Northern Arizona University and Brown University respectively and currently teaches geology at the Nogales Campus of Cochise College. In addition to serving on the Coronado RC&D Council, John serves on the IBWC Southeastern Arizona Citizens Forum, Arizona State Park Area Advisory Council and is on the board of directors of the Arizona Floodplain Management Association. He and his wife have two children and he is the Cub Master for his son’s Cub Scout Pack.
